From the 3rd to 4th of December 2025, Joana Martins and Ana Guimarães, from the Department of Research, Projects, and Internationalization, represented the Santa Maria Health School (SMHS) at the II Iberian Internationalization Meeting, held in Vigo by the National Erasmus+ Agency for Education and Training (Portugal) and the Spanish Service for the Internationalization of Education (Spain).
The meeting brought together representatives from higher education institutions in Portugal and Spain, providing a platform for reflection and debate on internationalization policies, academic mobility, and cross-border cooperation strategies. The opening session initiated the proceedings, followed by a roundtable focused on the strategic role of national agencies in promoting university internationalization.
The first day addressed talent attraction strategies, highlighting benchmarking of immigration, access, and visa regulations, as well as the analysis of regional priorities and current challenges in contexts such as Ibero-America, Africa, and the United States. The program also included networking sessions and a cultural activity organized by the University of Vigo.
The second day focused on Erasmus+ opportunities for Portuguese-Spanish cooperation, the sharing of best practices in cross-border academic networks, and the discussion of the role of Portuguese and Spanish languages within the Iberophone context. The meeting concluded with the presentation of key findings and final recommendations.
The participation of SMHS in this event strengthened its institutional commitment to internationalization, promoted new avenues for cooperation, and reinforced the school’s active engagement in strategic initiatives across the Iberian space.
