PRESENTATION
The Degree in Nursing lasts for 4 years, corresponding to 60 ECTS each year, in a total of 240 ECTS, with the mission “to ensure scientific, technical, human and cultural training for the provision and management of general nursing care to the individual”. throughout the life cycle, to the family, groups and community, at different levels of prevention” (Art. 5 of Decree-Law no. 353/99 of September 3, p.6199).

GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY CYCLE
a) Train highly qualified professionals, with scientific, technical, pedagogical and cultural preparation, capable of responding to the health needs of individuals and populations;
Develop a solid set of skills/knowledge and abilities that guarantee the highest quality in the execution of the nursing care they provide;
b) Responding to the needs of the community, whether in terms of physical, psychological, social or spiritual care, thus ensuring respect for the holistic view of the other;
Promote cultural, scientific and technical exchange with other institutions, whether public or private, national or foreign, which pursue similar objectives with a view to mutual enrichment;
c) Respond to contemporary challenges associated with the need for entrepreneurship in nursing and health;
d) Promoting mastery of a 2nd language, which, in association with the aforementioned skills and from a perspective of empowerment, will facilitate integration into different labor markets, thus responding to the challenges of globalisation.
DEVELOPED SKILLS
Over the eight semesters, the Nursing Degree student must develop skills in the field of professional, ethical and legal responsibility, provision and management of care, professional development.
COORDINATION
PARTNERSHIP
Through a partnership with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, students take anatomy classes at the Institute of Legal Medicine at the Hospital de São João in Porto.
