PRESENTATION

The skin, being the largest organ in the body, is subject to aggressions that can encourage the development of changes in its constitution. When these changes impair the skin’s functions, it is a wound.

Its approach consists of a detailed analysis of the person, risk classification, adoption of specific preventive measures and effective treatment measures.

Healthcare professionals must have skills and knowledge in the prevention and treatment of wounds so that they are able to provide safe and quality care to the person with a wound.

This Postgraduate Course in Tissue Viability and Wounds aims to be a driving agent for the development of clinical practice in the holistic approach to people with wounds, with topics ranging from Nursing Design in tissue viability and wounds, Research into tissue viability and wounds, Methodology and management of the care process, Regeneration and healing, Microbiology of wounds, Approach to the person with wound(s) and therapeutic options including new technologies, Education and promotion of self-care, Care process for the person with wounds (surgical, pressure ulcers, burns, leg ulcers, foot disorders, oncological disease, pediatric age, atypical, ostomies) and also a clinical component.

Certified by the Escola Superior de Saúde de Santa Maria, this Postgraduate Course awards 30 ECTS and has the collaboration of Bwizer. This course combines the knowledge of a specialized teaching staff with practice in a simulated and real context, with several workshops in addition to the internship.

Duration of 10 months, 262 contact hours, 30 ECTS.

CLASSES

Mixed Regime;
Fortnightly;
Friday: from 4pm to 9pm and Saturdays: from 9am to 6pm.

Exceptionally, it may work in consecutive weeks.

TARGET STUDENTS

Nursing degree or legal equivalent.
