Santa Maria Health School was present at the official launch of the “Sri Lanka Journal of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Sciences”, an innovative initiative in physiotherapy and rehabilitation research in Sri Lanka.

The event took place during the International Conference on Frailty and Geriatric Assessments 2025, held at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, and gathered leading experts and academics in the healthcare field.

Santa Maria Health School contributed to this first edition of the journal by publishing the scientific article:
“Competences of Physiotherapists and Nurses Working with Older Adults in Sri Lanka: A Need Analysis Exploratory Study with Students, Academics and Health Professionals”.

This study, developed within the framework of the CAPAGE Project – Promoting Academic and Professional Excellence in Health Care to Meet the Challenges of Aging in Sri Lanka, analyzed the core competencies of physiotherapists and nurses working with older adults in Sri Lanka, identifying training needs and opportunities for improving geriatric healthcare services.

The “Sri Lanka Journal of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Sciences” is registered under ISSN 3084-8814.

ESSSM’s participation in this initiative highlights the institution’s commitment to research, innovation, and international collaboration in geriatrics and rehabilitation.
