Between February and June 2025, the Santa Maria Health School welcomed Elena López Villarreal, a Nursing undergraduate student from the Universidad de Valladolid (Spain), as part of the Erasmus+ programme, under the Student Mobility for Traineeship (SMT) modality.
During this period, Elena completed her internship at the Hospital de Santa Maria, within the medical-surgical department. She closely followed the nursing teams’ work, participated in practical activities, and deepened her technical and scientific knowledge in healthcare delivery. This experience enabled her not only to understand the specificities of nursing practice in Portugal but also to develop personal, academic, and intercultural skills essential to her professional training.
By hosting this international student, Santa Maria Health School reinforces its commitment to internationalization and the promotion of high-quality training experiences, offering nursing students from other European institutions the opportunity to enrich their academic journey in a real and diverse setting.
