Santa Maria Health School – Escola Superior de Saúde de Santa Maria took part, for the first time, in the EAIE Annual Conference and Exhibition, held in Glasgow from 8 to 11 September 2026.
The institution was represented by Professor Daniela Simões at the 36th Annual Conference of the European Association for International Education (EAIE), which brought together more than 7,300 international education professionals from over 100 countries at the Scottish Event Campus.
Under this year’s theme, “The Rhythm of Revolution,” the event provided four days of learning, exchange and networking with higher education institutions and organisations from around the world. SMHS’s participation provided an opportunity to strengthen its international network, exchange perspectives on current challenges in higher education internationalisation and explore new opportunities for mobility, academic cooperation and international projects.
Throughout the event, meetings were held with current and prospective partners, with the aim of strengthening institutional relations and identifying new opportunities for collaboration.
SMHS was also part of the Study & Research in Portugal booth, alongside other Portuguese higher education institutions, creating an additional opportunity to strengthen connections and foster cooperation at both national and international levels.
This first participation in EAIE marks another important step in strengthening the international dimension of Santa Maria Health School, contributing to the development of new networks, partnerships and opportunities for its academic community.
